Autumn Diseases

Joint pain, heart attack, headache, allergies, gastric and duodenal ulcers, sinusitis, seasonal depression. It would seem that common to all these diseases? The fact that all these diseases, along with the flu and cold, can be called autumnal. But if everything is clear with a runny nose, cold and flu, then how does the heart or digestive system disease have to do with autumn? Let's figure it out!

Autumn and chronic diseases

In the autumn, as a rule, all chronic diseases are exacerbated. Adverse atmospheric phenomena have a negative effect on the well-being of most people. Changes in air temperature, pressure, and abrupt changes in atmospheric fronts are considered to be the main culprits of the aggravation of old ailments. Even today, researchers do not have a single opinion on why this is happening. But still it would be useful to know what ailments can remind you of yourself in the fall, and whether it can be prevented.

Allergy

We are all used to the fact that the time of allergies is spring, when the air is filled with pollen of plants - one of the strongest allergens. But it turns out, autumn for allergy sufferers is no less dangerous time. The cause of autumn allergy is often not external, but “home” allergens - mold and ticks.

When the weather remains wet for a long time, damp penetrates our homes. Mold for a long time can live under the wallpaper, in pots of flowers, on the joints between the tiles in the bathroom or in the basement. Mold fungi may at first even be invisible to the eye. But even at this stage they are already doing their dirty work both for the walls of the room and for our health. First, the person living next to the mold fungi, there are signs of allergies. If you do not get rid of mushrooms in time, then it is quite possible to earn asthma or even an oncological disease.

In the case of ticks, this is not about "forest" parasites, but about "domestic" - dust. Their habitat is upholstered furniture, curtains, carpets, mattresses and bedding. To prevent the emergence and reproduction of domestic ticks, it is necessary to regularly dislodge dust from everything in which dangerous ticks can live. Their presence in the house - the cause of allergic reactions. In addition, you should be aware that the symptoms of allergy (rhinitis, shortness of breath, tearing) are also aggravated against the background of viral infections, which, as is known, are most often activated in the autumn.

To prevent autumn attacks of allergies, take care of the cleanliness of your home in advance. To prevent ticks from entering the house, do wet cleaning, vacuum upholstered furniture and carpets every week, regularly change bedding and curtains, wipe books from dust. It should be remembered that ticks are afraid of the hot sun. Therefore, if there is an opportunity, put for a few hours in the sun everything that is not subject to fading, but what ticks can live in.

The best way to prevent mold fungi is to maintain a stable temperature in the room (within 20 degrees) and to air the house regularly. If the fungus has already settled on the walls, immediately treat all moldy areas with a fungicide. If a fungus has developed in the apartment, limit the number of flowers in the house - wet soil also contributes to mold multiplication.

Eczematous dermatitis

Eczematous dermatitis is a type of allergic disease of a genetic nature. If the onset of cold weather, the skin begins to itch, most likely you have eczematous dermatitis. This disorder occurs due to complex disruptions in the work of the nervous and immune systems, which improperly produce immunoglobulin E, which is responsible for allergic reactions.

In the autumn, eczematous dermatitis is exacerbated for several reasons. In the first place (and this is the most obvious explanation) - because of the cooling. In addition, the fall time for many people is associated with stress: the end of a vacation or a vacation, the days become shorter, people more often and more easily succumb to despondency. And stress, as evidenced by scientific studies, is one of the triggers of allergies.

In the autumn, we spend more time in closed heated rooms with dry air, which further aggravates dryness and itching of the skin. In addition, eczematous dermatitis is exacerbated after skin contact with woolen clothing, which we usually wear in cold seasons.

To facilitate the state in the fall, it is useful to use cosmetics for sensitive skin, you should not bask in the bath for a long time, it is better to take a shower instead. After each contact with water, apply a softening cream on the skin. Dress according to the weather, but do not overheat the body. Prefer cotton clothing. Eat foods rich in unsaturated fatty acids that moisturize the skin from the inside out (sea fish, pumpkin, olive, linseed oil). If possible, protect yourself from stressful situations.

Osteoarthritis

According to various estimates, from 50 to 70% of people react to changes in the weather with joint pain. Old injuries and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system most often remind of themselves in the fall. The researchers believe that this is due to a decrease in atmospheric pressure, a decrease in air temperature and an increase in humidity.

Experts suggest that low atmospheric pressure causes an increase in fluid in the joints, which then leads to swelling and pain.

Interestingly, the pain in the joints in autumn can worsen several hours before the weather changes. Relieve or prevent autumn pain in the joints is difficult, but possible. Firstly, it is important to always dress according to the weather. Secondly, in the autumn for joints it is useful to perform various physical exercises. If pain has appeared, it is helpful to do warming procedures: warm baths, compresses, massage to improve the blood supply. To make you feel better in the autumn, people prone to pain in the joints should start taking glucosamine and chondroitin in advance, which support the health of cartilage.

Myocardial infarction

Perhaps someone such a relationship seems strange, but the facts, as they say, a stubborn thing. According to statistics, almost 90% of heart attacks occur in autumn and early spring. Why it happens? Experts suggest that the blame for the violation of thermoregulatory mechanisms, including in the vascular system. In addition, in the autumn, especially during the passage of cold atmospheric fronts, blood viscosity increases. Together, these risk factors trigger a heart attack. The most dangerous time for people who already have problems with the work of the cardiovascular system.

Gastric and duodenal ulcer

Exacerbations of a peptic ulcer usually occur cyclically: in autumn and winter. Why scientists do this is not entirely clear, but the fact remains. It is assumed that the cause of the exacerbation is the effect of atmospheric pressure on the composition and consistency of blood. We should not forget that in the fall we get less vitamins than in the summer, the immunity begins to weaken, and the risk of developing diseases increases.

Scientists have discovered the relationship between the exacerbation of gastric ulcers and solar activity. Ultraviolet radiation in the body stimulates the secretion of histamine, and he - the production of hydrochloric acid. As a result, patients fall in the autumn with aggravation of the ulcer. During the autumn exacerbation of peptic ulcer, should be avoided strong tea and coffee, food, irritating the stomach: fried, pickled, spicy spices, very hot or cold food. Relieve the condition will help jelly flaxseed (1 tbsp. Flax pour 1 cup boiling water), which creates a protective effect on the gastric mucosa.

Chronic headache

In the fall, people often complain of headaches. Experts estimate: in 60% of cases, changes in the weather are the cause of the ailment. In autumn, the body reacts more acutely to barometric jumps. Headache caused by a change in the weather is more common in women, although men are also not insured against autumn sickness. The pain most often occurs due to a sharp change in the weather.

When the synoptic situation stabilizes, the pain passes. But returns with any subsequent changes in weather conditions.

People who are prone to frequent autumn headaches, to cope with the attacks will help warm bath with aromatic oils of lavender, rosemary and mint. You can also put a drop of one of the essential oils on the temporal region at the very beginning of the attack. A more traditional way to deal with headaches that worsen in the fall is to take an analgesic pill.

Autumn depression

This is perhaps one of the "most autumn" diseases. Seasonal depression usually begins in the fall and lasts until spring. The main cause of the onset of the autumn depression is the lack of sunlight. But why does a shorter day length not all people get depressed? It is assumed that the reason is the sensitivity of the retina. If it decreases, the risk of autumn depression increases. Due to the weak sensitivity of the retina to light, the hypothalamus receives fewer impulses and sends inadequate signals to the body. As a result, a person has a feeling of constant fatigue, drowsiness, problems with concentration, anxiety, unmotivated sadness, excessive appetite. By the way, in addition to depression, other diseases of the nervous system are often exacerbated in the fall. It is at this time of year that people most often suffer from insomnia, neurosis, psychosis, and anxiety.

To cope with the autumn depression, try to spend as much time as possible in the fresh air. Make daily walks your own rule. Thus, the body will receive the maximum possible portion of sunlight in the fall. Play sports such as jogging, swimming, dancing or cycling. These activities contribute to the development of endorphins in the body - hormones that improve mood. Adjust your autumn diet. Make sure that the menu is balanced and nutritious, and black tea and strong coffee is better to replace with drinks from herbs with the effect of antidepressants.

One of the best natural antidepressants is St. John's Wort. But you can not simultaneously undergo phototherapy (light therapy) and drink hypericum tea.

Typical autumn diseases

Cool, rainy and windy weather affects not only the mood, making many drowsy and apathetic. This is also the time when the resistance of the immune system is reduced, making it easy to catch respiratory infections.

Acute Respiratory Disease (ARI)

In the fall, the most common threat to health is hypothermia. If you have a runny nose, sore throat, weakness, aches in the bones, most likely you have a cold. By the way, scientists have calculated that every year on the planet ORZ about a billion people are ill.

From other types of autumnal diseases, ARD differs more easily. Often, acute respiratory disease can be defeated by natural means: tea with honey and lemon, raspberries or viburnum. But if the disease is not treated, it can develop into pneumonia.

Flu

If the symptoms of ARD are accompanied by fever (up to 40 degrees), severe cough, muscle and joint pain, weakness and weakness in the whole body, then you can be sure: this is the flu. Influenza always affects the upper respiratory tract - hence the strong cough and chest pain.

Often, home treatment for flu may not be enough. In recent years, the strains of viruses that cause the disease often change, and as a result of improper treatment, serious complications, even death, can occur.

Angina

One of the most common complications of the flu is sore throat. This is a bacterial inflammation of the throat and tonsils. When our immunity weakens, we become easy prey for bacteria. That is why autumn is so easy to get sore throat. This disease is accompanied not only by severe pain when swallowing, but also by high fever, swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Ignore the sore throat, believing that the sore throat will soon disappear itself, absolutely impossible. The disease often gives complications, including in the form of otitis media, pneumonia, meningitis and even rheumatism of the heart.

Pneumonia

Pneumonia is one of the possible complications of under-treated flu. Inflammation of the lungs may occur due to lesions of fungi, bacteria or viruses. A weakened body is easily affected by harmful microbes. It is important to start treatment on time, as pneumonia can result in chronic impairment of lung function and even cause brain diseases. To protect yourself from pneumonia in the autumn, it is important to take care of the immune system in advance.

Garlic, carrot juice, spinach, basil and ginger - this set of natural remedies helps the body resist disease.

Bronchitis

This disease of viral nature affects the respiratory tract of infants and adults. At first, the disease can be a lot like a cold, but it progresses rapidly, causing breathing problems. If you do not start the right treatment in time, it can be fatal. An exact diagnosis can only doctor. If a child or an adult complains of fatigue in the fall, looks sluggish, his hoarse cough turns into vomiting, and his breathing becomes rapid, there is a risk of developing bronchitis.

Otitis

Acute infectious diseases of the ears are diagnosed in the fall more often than at other times of the year. This disease is especially popular among children. A sharp cooling and changes in air humidity increase the risk of ear diseases. The easiest way to protect yourself from otitis is to eat a balanced diet, take care of immunity and not forget about headgear in windy and cool weather.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis can occur at any time of the year, but in the fall and winter we are especially vulnerable to it. In cold weather, swelling of the nasal mucosa occurs and bacteria begin to develop in the sinuses, which ultimately results in inflammation. Sinusitis is a runny nose, accompanied by severe headaches, fever and difficulty breathing. If the infection is not treated, the disease can become chronic and cause various complications.

In order to avoid sinusitis, in cold weather do not leave the house without a headdress or with wet hair. If sinusitis worsens every fall, in the “dangerous” period avoid cigarette smoke. Getting into the nostrils, it irritates the mucous membranes, which facilitates the penetration of bacteria and viruses. Also, do not allow the air to dry out in the house. To deal with excessive dry air will help the bank with water, put on the battery.

Anemia

If in the summer food was correct and balanced, and fruit, berries and vegetables rich in vitamins prevailed in the diet, then the reserves obtained would be enough for the first half of autumn. But if you don’t think about nutrition in September, then closer to winter you can find anemia (a disease caused by a decrease in red blood cells and hemoglobin in the blood). To avoid this, the autumn menu should contain foods rich in iron and vitamin B12.

Asthma

Autumn weather contributes to the spread of bacteria and viruses. Therefore, people with asthma may have exacerbations of the disease.

Often, the state of health of children with asthma deteriorates in the fall.As a rule, the disease reminds of itself after suffering a cold or flu. Therefore, in the autumn, asthmatics should always be under the supervision of a physician.

Cystitis

This disease is known to many women. It cannot be confused with anything else. Frequent urging to the toilet and severe pain during urination - this is cystitis. It is widely believed that cystitis occurs if you sit on a cold or wet your feet in cold weather. In fact, the cause of bladder inflammation are viruses or bacteria. But the hurt cold and wet autumn weather also can not be underestimated. Hypothermia contributes to the rapid growth of pathological microflora and activation of inflammatory processes. Moreover, in the autumn the immunity is not as strong as in the summer, so it is quite difficult for the body to resist bacteria and viruses that cause inflammation in the bladder.

Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is a disease caused by a decrease in the secretory function of the thyroid gland. Simply put, the thyroid gland produces less hormones than it should. And this disease also has a seasonal nature. As observations show, with the arrival of autumn, the activity of the thyroid gland in many people slows down. As a result, a person becomes sluggish, gets tired quickly, gains weight, constantly feels chills and pain in the joints. To prevent seasonal hypothyroidism, you should regularly eat seafood and other foods rich in iodine.

Each season brings with them its diseases and health problems. And autumn is no exception. Sharp weather changes create additional difficulties for our organisms, which have to adapt to the vagaries of nature. If the immunity is at least a little weakened, then in autumn the whole body will have a hard time. Only a strong immune system will help to survive the fall without disease.
